Sharon Ann Leal, an actress of Filipino descent and African-American heritage earned her fame through performances in Boston Public TV and romantic musical Dreamgirls. Her family moved to California shortly after her birth however she spent her early years throughout her time living in the Philippines. In her teens, she was able to begin to appear in stage shows for the local theater group. Seth Riggs, a voice teacher and vocal coach, collaborated with her during 1993 to help her earn an award for vocal talent.
